Annual Reports
In the report, we highlight recent breakthroughs and emerging innovations. These include novel detection platforms—such as an “electronic nose” for pathogen identification and next-generation tools for breast cancer diagnosis—as well as engineered tissues and therapeutic delivery systems that offer more efficient and cost-effective healthcare solutions. At the same time, BIPH is building strong university–community partnerships to address pressing societal needs: from new strategies to combat the opioid crisis, to technologies that detect and mitigate environmental toxins like lead, to data-integrated platforms that empower local decision-makers. By taking our research beyond campus—and engaging international collaborators, patient advocates, and field researchers—we aim to scale the impact of Notre Dame technologies to improve lives around the world.
A key part of our mission is to educate and empower the next generation of leaders in precision health. Through graduate fellowships, hands-on training, professional development, and technology incubation and support, we are equipping researchers across all career stages to translate pioneering science into real-world impact. This report also celebrates the achievements of our faculty, major funding milestones, and our strategic plans for continued growth—reflecting both Notre Dame’s enduring commitment to interdisciplinary research and our shared vision of serving the common good.
